Holi is all about vibrant colors, the arrival of spring, and beautiful decorations along with tasty food. As we already know, Holi is the Festival of Colors, but very few know the exact story behind the HOLI we celebrate.

Muhurta According to Drik Panchang  

  • Purnima tithi begins on 13 March 2025 at 10:35 AM and ends on 14 March 2025 at 12:23 PM, the duration is 1 hour 4 minutes
  • Holika Dahan is on 13 March, and the next day you can celebrate with colors

Holika Dahan Muhurta:

  • Start the Holika Dahan puja At 11:26 PM on 13th March and end it by 12:30 AM on 14th March.
  • Bhadra Punchha from 6:57 PM to 8:14 PM and Bhadra Mukha from 8:14 PM to 10:22 PM
  •  We should avoid Bhadra Mukha and this year 2025 also Holika Dahan will take place after Bhadra Mukha

On the day of Holika Dahan, there is Bhadra Kaal inauspicious time and to celebrate Holika Dahan we always follow muhurta. During Bhadra Kaal we can’t have religious ceremonies, but for playing Holi there are no specific muhurta we have to follow. Older or Younger, everyone plays Holi with great enthusiasm, with colors, water, and flowers and eats lots and lots of delicious dishes and sweets.

Significance of Holika Dahan:

Victory of Good over Evil as Prahlad, who was the devotee of Lord Vishnu whom his father Hiranyakashipu wanted to kill by making him sit on his aunt’s lap who was a demoness who was unbeatable through fire. As his father hated the fact that Prahlad was devoted to Vishnu then Lord Vishnu took Narasimha Avataar to protect Prahlad.

The Bonfire symbolizes the end of negativity and the beginning of positivity and a new start.

Rituals of Holika Dahan:

  • Gather all the things used in a Bonfire, like wood, leaves, and to make it HOLYFIR,E use cow dung cake
  • other things needed for offering to fire are sesame seeds, dry coconut, wheat grains, 
  • Strictly do not consume meat or alcohol, don’t smoke 
  • Don’t wear black or Blue Clothes.
  • Do not use such things in fire which can cause pollution or harm the environment in any way because only we can protect our environment. 
  • Don’t lend money on this day as it can cause financial woes

HOLI is a festival which unites different countries with different people.

Apart from India Holi is celebrated across other countries as well like Australia, South Africa, the UK, the USA, Nepal to South Korea. People of these countries celebrate Holi with vibrant colors variety of food, different cuisines, and Bollywood music.

To play safe Holi follow Do’s and Don’ts 

To avoid any kind of skin problem or issues related to colors, try to use organic colors, and herbal gulaal. Use face moisturizer and oils on your hair before stepping out to play Holi.

Drink plenty of water, vegetable juice, etc to avoid dehydration. Use hydrating and cooling sunscreen to avoid tanning and sunburns. Keep in mind that you must wash your and your children’s hands before eating anything to avoid harmful colors from going to your stomach.
